ARTS & CRAFTS

Acrylic Painting

Acrylic paints are vibrant, beautiful, inexpensive, and easy to use. In this enjoyable beginner class, you’ll learn how to mix and blend acrylic colors, how to paint simple objects, and create your very own realistic, expressionistic, or abstract painting inspired by still life props. Beginner Crochet Class

Do you want to learn the basics of crochet? If so, grab your hook and yarn and let’s get started! In this beginners class you will learn how to make a crochet chain, a single and double crochet, how to read a crochet pattern, make Granny Squares and join them together as well as your very own infinity scarf! Beginner Knitting Class

Grab your NEEDLES and YARN and get started learning to knit. This fun, relaxing hobby is one you can enjoy for a lifetime! Modern Calligraphy

Soap Making

Enroll in this fun, hands-on class and learn everything you ever wanted to know about soap making! Instructor, Kandice Gray will give you step by step instructions and walk you through the chemistry behind making soap! All supplies will be provided for you to make your very own soap to take home.

FINANCES

Keep It Simple: An Introduction to Investing

Do you understand the difference in an exchange trade fund and a mutual fund? How about a municipal bond or how annuities work? Investing can be made complicated, but it doesn’t have to be. This class will provide people with a working glossary to understand the world of investing. It will highlight some of the pitfalls in financial planning and provide tips and insight on working with attorneys, accountants, and advisors.

FLORAL DESIGN

Fall Wreaths

The evenings are cooler, the leaves are changing color, and it’s time to transition your home for the fall season! In this class you will work with University florist, Lynette McDougald to create a versatile fall wreath that can be used as a door or wall hanging or even as a table centerpiece. Enroll today to create a fall wreath that you and others will love! All materials will be provided.

Scaring Up a Good Time with Fresh Flowers

Fall brings on new opportunities for fun with family and friends. Why not make your gatherings special by adding fresh flowers to the mix. Participants will create a fresh floral arrangement using pumpkins and a variety of fresh and dried floral products. Fresh flowers, dried flowers, container and pumpkins will be provided for participants. Participants are asked to bring a floral knife or clippers and ribbon sheers.

Not Your Grandmother’s Traditional Thanksgiving Cornucopia!

Do you love hosting family and friends for big meals during the Holidays? How about surprising your guests with a stylish, modern take on the traditional Thanksgiving cornucopia. MSU floral design specialist, Lynette McDougald will help participants create a show-stopping centerpiece using fruits and vegetables and fresh flowers. All centerpiece materials will be provided, participants should bring a floral knife, scissors, small pruners, and wire cutters.

Guitar, Beginners to Advance

This course is designed for all who are interested in learning how to play guitar. Whether you have never strummed a chord or have been playing for a while and are looking to improve your knowledge and skills this course is for you! Participants will have the opportunity to play folk, blues, rock, and classical styles of music.

PHOTOGRAPHY

iPhone Photography

This fun, informative class will focus on all things photographic related to the iPhone. Starting with the basics of the camera, all photographic features (many of which are hidden) of the iPhone will be covered. Participants will explore apps for taking as well as processing photos and receive hands-on instruction in editing their own photos with the instructor through image editing demonstrations using an Apple TV and Digital Light Projector. The Wine Experience

Wine is fun and has personality…just like you! Join us to uncork the mysteries of wine and to experience the fun of wine tasting and food pairings, the ins and outs of wine making in the US, and the art behind identifying wine flavors, aromas and bouquets. In this class you won’t just be tasting wine, you’ll be experiencing it.
